Yonhap</p></div></div><p class="editor-p"><span>South Korea's SK Telecom announced a collaboration with major telecoms from Japan and Taiwan to establish a joint investment fund for next-generation artificial intelligence technologies.</span></p><p class="editor-p">The three companies—SKT, Japan's NTT, and Taiwan's Chunghwa Telecom—agreed to form Catalight Capital, a firm that will manage a fund of about $500 million financed by the trio, according to SKT.</p><p class="editor-p">The fund will target startups across North America, Asia, and Europe, spanning the AI value chain from cooling systems and AI chips to AI service applications.</p><p class="editor-p">Chipmaker SK hynix is also expected to participate in the initiative, SKT added.</p><p class="editor-p">The collaboration is described as a way to connect East Asian AI, ICT, semiconductor, and network capabilities with the global innovation ecosystem.</p>

SK텔레콤은 일본의 NTT, 대만의 Chunghwa Telecom과 함께 약 5억 달러 규모의 공동 펀드인 Catalight Capital을 관리하는 회사를 설립하기로 합의했다고 전했다.
투자 대상은 북미, 아시아, 유럽의 유망 스타트업으로 AI 가치사슬 전체의 다양한 영역에 걸쳐 이루어지며, 냉각 시스템부터 AI 칩, AI 서비스 어플리케이션에 이르는 분야를 포함한다고 밝혔다.
칼로 SK하이닉스도 참여를 준비 중인 것으로 알려졌다.
SK텔레콤은 보도자료에서 이 펀드가 한국과 일본을 포함한 동아시아 국가의 AI, ICT, 반도체 및 네트워크 기술 역량을 글로벌 혁신 생태계와 연결하는 기회가 될 것으로 기대한다고 말했다.
