The actions followed a media report noting that the translator had received suspended sentences in two separate sex offense cases.
The translator issued a statement on social media indicating plans to seek legal counsel and warning of potential legal action against what he described as false or unverifiable reporting, and he was not available for comment as of the evening after the report.
The translator rose to prominence through a high-profile body of work for major film titles, including a recent sci-fi release, and has been involved in translating an upcoming superhero film scheduled for July release. The distributor has not issued an official statement regarding his involvement.
