Samsung Electronics announced plans to transform its domestic and overseas production facilities into AI-driven factories by 2030, as part of a broader initiative to modernize manufacturing through AI and data-driven processes.
The company will implement digital twin-based simulations across the entire manufacturing workflow, from materials warehousing to production and shipments, and deploy AI agents focused on quality control, production, and logistics to strengthen analysis and verification systems.
The move aims to improve quality and productivity, with broader AI applications in environmental health and safety management expected to enhance workplace safety.
Building on AI capabilities developed in its mobile business, Samsung intends to apply "agentic AI"—systems that can autonomously set and execute plans—to manufacturing innovation.
Plans include phased deployment of humanoid manufacturing robots across production lines to create optimized smart factories, with a senior official emphasizing that the future of manufacturing innovation lies in autonomous production sites where AI makes independent, optimal decisions.
The company is set to unveil its industrial AI strategy and digital twin-based manufacturing vision at the Mobile World Congress 2026 in Barcelona, and will use the Samsung Mobile Business Summit to outline its governance strategy as agentic AI expands across industries.
