The national team will hold a training camp in Salt Lake City in May ahead of the World Cup in Mexico, where group-stage matches will be played at high altitudes.
The national governing body announced the training plan. Under head coach Hong Myung-bo, the team will train in Salt Lake City, located about 1,300 meters above sea level, using facilities tied to a Major League Soccer club and the University of Utah.
For the World Cup in June, the team will play its first two Group A matches in Guadalajara, a city at roughly 1,500 meters above sea level. The plan reflects acclimation needs before selecting Salt Lake City.
Officials said site evaluation and consultations with sports science and acclimation experts were part of the decision-making process.
The choice also considered that Salt Lake City shares the same time zone as Guadalajara during daylight saving time.
Coach Hong will announce the World Cup squad on May 16, and he and a subset of players will depart for Salt Lake City on May 18. Overseas-based players will report to camp individually.
Two friendly matches are planned during the U.S. training camp, with opponents and dates to be announced.
Korea's first Group A match is set for June 11 against Czechia. The team will travel to Guadalajara six days before the opener and will base there for the tournament.

한국은 5월 미국 유타주 솔트레이크시티에서 FIFA 월드컵 대비 훈련 캠프를 마련할 예정이며, 멕시코의 고지대에서 펼쳐질 그룹 스테이지 경기에 대비한다.
협회는 목요일 월드컵 훈련 계획을 발표했다. 홍명보 감독 아래, 한국은 5월 고도 1,300미터의 솔트레이크시티에서 훈련을 시작하고 MLS 소속 구단의 시설과 유타 대학교의 시설에서 훈련을 진행할 예정이다.
월드컵이 6월에 시작될 때, 한국은 그룹 A의 첫 두 경기를 멕시코 과달라하라에서 치르게 된다. 과달라하라는 해발 약 1,500미터의 고지대 도시다. 협회는 고지대 적응 필요를 고려해 솔트레이크시티를 최종 결정했다고 밝혔다.
“선발 과정에서 우리는 여러 후보지를 면밀히 확인했고 스포츠 과학 및 환경 적응 전문가들과 상의했다.”
과달라하라와 동일한 시차대에 있고 일광 절약 시간이 적용되는 점도 결정에 반영됐다.
홍 감독은 5월 16일 월드컵 선수단을 발표하고, 그와 선발 선수 몇 명은 이틀 뒤 솔트레이크시티로 떠나게 된다. 해외 리그 소속 선수들은 캠프에 각자 합류할 예정이다.
미국 캠프 기간에도 두 차례의 친선 경기를 치를 예정이며, 상대와 일정은 추후 결정된다.
한국의 그룹 A 첫 경기는 6월 11일 체코와 벌어지며, 개막전 6일 전에 과달라하라로 이동한다. 대회 기간 동안 한국은 과달라하라에 기지를 둘 것이다.
