Defense Minister Ahn Gyu-back visited the command and control center of the Navy to inspect the military readiness posture, according to the defense ministry.
The visit occurred at the command center of the Republic of Korea Fleet, which oversees the Navy's missions at sea, underwater, and in the air, at a naval base in the southeastern port city of Busan.
He stated he is proud of fellow soldiers diligently guarding the vast waters and urged troops to maintain readiness with the mindset of guarding national security on the front lines.
During the visit, Ahn urged the Navy to upgrade capabilities based on advanced assets, such as nuclear-powered submarines, and called on the Marine Corps to assume operational control over its military units, which currently lie under the Army.

국방부에 따르면 안규백 장관은 해상·수중·공중 임무를 담당하는 대한민국 해군 전력의 지휘센터를 방문했으며, 이 지휘센터는 부산의 한 해군 기지에 위치해 있다.
"한국 영토의 3배에 달하는 광활한 바다를 부지런히 지키는 동료 병사들이 자랑스럽다"고 말한 안규백 장관은 전선에서 국가 안보를 지키려는 마음가짐으로 대비태세를 확고히 유지할 것을 부대에 촉구했다.
방문 기간 동안 안규백 장관은 핵추진 잠수함 등 첨단 자산에 기반한 해군의 역량 강화와 함께 해병대가 현재 육군이 관할하는 군부대에 대한 작전 지휘를 인수하도록 해야 한다고 밝혔다.
