A woman in her 20s appeared at a Seoul Northern District Court on Thursday to attend a warrant review hearing after police sought an arrest warrant on suspicion of inflicting bodily injury resulting in death and violating narcotics control laws related to two deaths and another case of unconsciousness at a motel.
The suspect, identified only as A, was detained the previous day in Suyu-dong, Gangbuk District, on suspicion of giving a male victim a drink containing an unidentified substance at a motel.
She entered the motel with the victim around 8:30 p.m. on Feb. 9 and left about two hours later. The following day, at approximately 5:40 p.m., a motel employee found the man lying dead on the bed and reported the case to authorities. No external injuries were detected on the body, and beer cans were recovered at the scene.
Investigators believe she used a similar method in two earlier incidents. Late last month, a man was found dead after staying at a motel with the woman after consuming a drink she provided. In mid-December, a third man lost consciousness after drinking a beverage she allegedly gave him and later filed a complaint against her on charges of bodily injury.
All three victims were men in their 20s who had met the suspect shortly before going to motels. The suspect acknowledged giving the victims drinks containing medication but said she did not expect them to die. The substance is believed to be a prescription drug and is undergoing forensic analysis. Authorities are continuing to investigate the suspect’s motive.
모텔에서 두 남성을 사망에 이르게 한 혐의를 받는 여성이 목요일 서울 북부지방법원에서 영장실질심사를 받기 위해 출석했다.
경찰은 수요일 모텔에 함께 간 두 남성이 사망하고 또 다른 한 명이 의식을 잃은 뒤 여성을 상대로 체포영장을 신청했다.
강북경찰서는 사망에 이르는 신체상해를 가한 혐의와 마약류 관리법 위반 혐의로 영장을 신청했다고 밝혔다.
피의자는 A로만 신원이 확인되며 강북구 수유동에서 전날 모텔에서 남성 피해자에게 미확인 물질이 함유된 음료를 건넨 혐의를 받고 있다.
조사관에 따르면 그녀는 2월 9일 오후 8시 30분경 피해자와 함께 모텔에 들어갔고 약 두 시간 뒤 혼자 모텔을 떠났다. 다음 날 오후 5시 40분경 모텔 직원이 남성이 침대에 누워 있는 것을 발견해 당국에 신고했다. 시신에는 외상은 없었고 현장에서 맥주 캔이 확인됐다.
조사관은 이 여성이 두 차례의 이전 사건에서도 유사한 방식으로 범행을 저질렀다고 보고 있다.
지난달 말에도 이 여성과 함께 모텔에 머물던 남성이 사망한 채 발견됐으며, 사망하기 전에 그녀가 제공한 음료를 섭취한 것으로 조사됐다.
12월 중순에는 세 번째 남성이 그녀가 건넸다고 주장하는 음료를 마신 뒤 의식을 잃었고 이후 신체상해 혐의로 그녀를 고소했다.
경찰에 따르면 세 남성 모두 20대였으며 피의자와 모텔에 함께 가기 직전에 만나던 사이였다.
피의자는 피해자들에게 약물이 함유된 음료를 건넸다고 인정했으나 사망할 것으로 예상하지는 않았다. 해당 물질은 처방약으로 추정되며 현재 법의학 분석이 진행 중이다.
당국은 피의자의 동기를 계속 조사 중이다.
