Singer Kang Daniel will begin his mandatory military service on February 9, according to his agency, ARA.
The 29-year-old had indicated his plans for enlistment during a press showcase for his sixth EP in June of the previous year, expressing his desire to maximize his activities as a singer before starting his service.
Last month, he held his final fan concert in Seoul, which featured an interactive format combining performances and fan events ahead of his departure. All able-bodied South Korean men are required to serve at least 18 months in the military due to security threats from North Korea.
Kang Daniel debuted in 2017 and gained significant recognition as a member of the project boy group Wanna One, which was formed through the Mnet audition program "Produce 101" Season 2. After the group disbanded at the end of 2018 following 18 months of activity, he continued to achieve success through various solo projects.
Reports indicate that Wanna One is scheduled to reunite for a reality show on the same TV channel in the first half of this year. Kang is currently exploring options to appear in early segments of the program prior to his enlistment.

강다니엘은 2017년에 데뷔하여 프로젝트 보이그룹 Wanna One의 멤버로 빠르게 유명세를 탔으며, 해당 그룹은 Mnet 오디션 프로그램 "프로듀스 101" 시즌 2를 통해 결성되었다. 그룹 활동 이후 그는 다양한 솔로 프로젝트를 통해 계속해서 성공을 거두었다.
Wanna One은 2018년 말 18개월의 활동을 마치고 해체되었지만, 올해 상반기에 같은 TV 채널의 리얼리티 프로그램을 위해 재결합할 예정이다.
미디어 보도에 따르면, 강다니엘은 입대 전에 프로그램의 초기 부분에 출연할 방법을 논의 중인 것으로 전해졌다.
