A gala charity dinner was hosted by Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) Korea on Thursday at the Grand Hyatt Seoul to raise funds for sick children and their families. The nonprofit organization provides high-quality free accommodation for families with hospitalized children at Yangsan House, located near Pusan National University Children’s Hospital in Yangsan, South Gyeongsang Province.
Approximately 600 guests attended the event in the Grand Ballroom, which featured sponsorship from McDonald’s Korea and Cadillac Korea. Additionally, 17 other companies contributed items for an auction, raffle, and goodie bags for attendees.
In his opening remarks, RMHC Korea chairman Jeffrey Jones emphasized the organization's commitment to supporting families during their most challenging times, encouraging guests to contribute generously.
Kevin Kim, chargé d'affaires at the U.S. Embassy in Seoul, reinforced U.S. government support for RMHC's philanthropic efforts, highlighting the collaborative nature of the organization's work involving private industry, individuals, and communities.
During the gala, Sue Ahn, president and CEO of RMHC Korea, announced plans for two new accommodation houses in the capital region, one adjacent to Seoul Children's Hospital and the other near Inha University Hospital in Incheon. Ahn stated that the organization aims to ensure that families can stay together during times of need, providing them with comfort, nourishment, and a sense of normalcy.

우진 대사관 대리인 케빈 킴은 존스의 연설에 이어 무대에 올라 미국 정부가 이 기관의 자선 활동을 지원하고 있다고 말했습니다.
“오늘 밤은 올바른 이유와 올바른 사람들을 위해 옳은 일을 하기 위해 모인 것입니다. RMHC가 특별한 이유는 개인, 기업 및 지역 사회가 함께할 때 일어날 수 있는 최고의 모습을 대표하기 때문입니다.” 킴은 말했습니다.
“귀사가 구축한 기업 파트너, 병원 및 자원봉사자들과의 파트너십은 일부 가장 시급한 문제들이 정부 프로그램만으로 해결될 수 없다는 것을 보여줍니다. 오히려 변화에 헌신하고 관대함을 발휘하는 개인 및 기업의 노력으로 해결될 수 있다는 것입니다.”
수 안 RMHC 한국 회장은 갈라 행사 중에 서울특별시 서초구 서울 어린이병원 인근과 인천 인하대학교병원 근처에 새로운 숙소가 두 곳 건설될 것이라고 발표했습니다.
“어떤 가족도 아픈 자녀를 돌보는 것과 쉴 곳을 찾는 것 사이에서 선택할 필요가 없어야 합니다. 우리는 편안함, 영양 및 다른 것은 아무것도 아닌 순간들을 제공합니다. 아동이 돌봄이 필요할 때 가족들은 함께 머물 수 있도록 하며, 우리는 그 곁에 함께 합니다.” 안 회장은 말했습니다.
