The Samsung Lions announced on Sunday that they have secured their free agent catcher Kang Min-ho with a two-year contract.
The 40-year-old player will receive an annual salary of 300 million won ($207,610) for the next two seasons, with the potential to earn an additional 200 million won each year through incentives. Kang also received a signing bonus of 1 billion won upfront.
This contract marks a historic milestone, making Kang the first player in Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) history to sign four free agency deals.
Kang began his KBO career with the Lotte Giants in 2004 and first entered free agency in 2014, signing a four-year deal to remain with the Giants. He later joined the Lions in 2017 on another four-year contract and signed a subsequent four-year deal with the Lions in December 2021.
As the career leader in games played with 2,496, Kang had a notable performance in the 2025 season, batting .269 with 12 home runs and 71 RBIs, marking his 16th consecutive season with at least 10 home runs. He also continued to provide reliable support behind the plate for his pitching staff.
"With this deal, I will get to play 10 seasons with the Samsung Lions and I want to help build a dynasty here over the next two years," Kang stated. "It means a lot to me to sign my fourth free agent deal."

강민호는 2,496경기 출전으로 경력 사상 가장 많은 출전 기록을 보유하고 있으며, 2025년 40세에 생산적인 시즌을 보냈다. 그는 .269의 타율로 12홈런, 71타점을 기록하며 10홈런 이상의 시즌을 16년 연속으로 이어갔고, 투수진을 위해 신뢰할 수 있는 존재감을 유지했다.
