A high-profile legal battle has erupted between a Korean actor and a cosmetics company, identified as Brand A, over a 2.8 billion won ($2.1 million) damages lawsuit. The dispute centers on Brand A's claim that the actor damaged its public image amid a controversy involving the late actress Kim Sae-ron, an allegation the actor firmly denies.
On November 21, the Seoul Central District Court held the first hearing in the civil suit, which was filed in April. Brand A had previously announced in March that it was terminating its advertising contract with the actor, despite the one-year deal being valid until August 2025.

The actor's representatives firmly rejected these claims, asserting that it is untrue they dated when she was a minor, stating they began dating only after she became a university student. The actor's legal team also noted that although Brand A announced the termination in March, promotional images remained on the brand's Korean and Japanese websites and in physical stores in Japan until June. They requested the court to confirm this.
Brand A responded by stating that all related images and materials have been removed and that overseas stores were instructed to halt usage.
