The Dodgers defeated the Cincinnati Reds 10-5 in Game 1 of the National League Wild Card Series at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles on Tuesday (local time). Game 2 will also take place in Los Angeles on Wednesday.
Kim made the Dodgers' 26-man roster for the Wild Card Series after finishing the regular season with a batting average of .280, three home runs, 17 RBIs, and 13 steals in 71 games. Throughout the season, he played three different positions: second baseman, shortstop, and center fielder, and is expected to serve as a late-inning defensive replacement or pinch runner during the postseason.
Kim is the only Korean player whose MLB team reached the postseason, while others, including Lee Jung-hoo and Kim Ha-seong, saw their teams miss the playoffs.
Shohei Ohtani contributed significantly to the victory by hitting two home runs, as the Dodgers aim to become the first team since the 1998-2000 New York Yankees to win consecutive World Series titles.
