Acting President Lee Ju-ho conducted a visit to police and firefighting units on Saturday to assess public safety ahead of the upcoming Children's Day holiday next week.
During his visits to the Hwayang police patrol unit in Gwangjin District and the Gangdong Fire Station in eastern Seoul, Lee offered encouragement to the personnel. The Hwayang unit is responsible for overseeing the Seoul Children's Grand Park, which is anticipated to attract numerous family visitors for Children's Day on May 5 and the extended holiday through Tuesday.
Lee emphasized to police officers the need to focus on crowd safety measures. At the fire station, he reviewed fire prevention strategies and accident response protocols in light of a recent sinkhole incident in Gangdong that resulted in the injury of a motorcycle rider.
He stated, "In the event of a sinkhole appearance, the first report will be received by the firefighting agency, so promptly take traffic control and other first response measures together with the police, the local government and other related agencies to ensure no casualties."

이 권한대행은 경찰관에게 군중 안전 조치에 특별히 주의를 기울일 것을 지시했다.
강동소방서에서는 3월 강동의 싱크홀 사고 이후의 화재 예방 및 사고 대응 조치를 점검했다.
그는 "싱크홀이 발생할 경우 처음 신고는 소방기관이 받게 되므로, 즉각적으로 경찰, 지방 정부 및 관련 기관과 함께 교통 통제 및 기타 초기 대응 조치를 취해 인명 피해가 없도록 해야 한다"고 말했다.
