Taihan Cable wins W90b cable system supply deal in California


Taihan Cable & Solution employees in the US are currently involved in the cable-pulling process at the company's operational site. The South Korean electric wire and cable manufacturer recently announced the acquisition of a significant $67.5 million cable system supply contract in the US. This deal involves providing voltage source converters for a 320-kilovolt system and a 500-kilovolt HVAC power system to LS Power Grid California, marking Taihan Cable & Solution's inaugural entry into North America's high-capacity, long-distance transmission market. The company emphasized the advantages of its HVAC systems, which are easier to install and can be utilized in renewable energy generation, such as wind and solar power. Taihan Cable & Solution highlighted its groundbreaking achievements in developing HVDC systems with voltage source converters, including South Korea's first 525-kilovolt HVDC cable system and a 500-kilovolt HVAC system, both of which are considered crucial national technologies. With a strong order backlog of 610 billion won as of September, the company aims to leverage its expertise in cable installation to further establish itself in the North American market, particularly within the evolving electric grid sector. This expansion is seen as a strategic move to tap into the growing demand for innovative power transmission solutions in the region.
