Courtesy of HD Hyundai Heavy Industries</p></div></div><p class="editor-p">A major shipbuilder is expanding its collaboration with Canadian shipyards as it pursues a multibillion-dollar submarine construction project in Canada.</p><p class="editor-p">The company stated that Park Yong-yeol, head of its Naval Ship Division, met with Davie Shipbuilding CEO James Davies at Davie’s Ottawa office. Davie Shipbuilding is Canada’s largest shipbuilder, with experience spanning icebreakers, maritime plants and combat support ships.</p><p class="editor-p">The two sides discussed how cooperation could strengthen Canada’s shipbuilding sector, with plans to leverage Davie’s Helsinki-based subsidiary to access northern hemisphere markets through expanded collaboration.</p><p class="editor-p">The HD Hyundai-led consortium is also pursuing Canada’s submarine project alongside Hanwha Ocean and has proposed a supplementary package to the Canadian government that includes offshore oil imports, transfer of shipbuilding technologies to Canadian yards, and maintenance and repair consulting for submarines.</p><p class="editor-p">The meeting followed Canada’s recent demonstration voyage of a Korean submarine, which traveled 14,000 kilometers from South Korea to Victoria, British Columbia, welcomed by Canadian officials and company representatives.</p><p class="editor-p">Earlier this month, Irving Shipbuilding in Nova Scotia hosted a visit from a company president to review manufacturing capabilities and technologies. </p><p class="editor-p">“We are aligning our efforts with Canada’s leading shipyards to share mutual capabilities and expand our presence in shipbuilding and naval vessels,” a company official said, adding that the cooperation aims to help secure the Canadian submarine project.</p>

_박과 Davies의 만남은 토요일 현지시간 캐나다에서 한한국 잠수함이 남부 경상도에서 빅토리아, 브리티시컬럼비아까지 최장 해저 여정을 완료해 작전 능력을 입증한 직후 이뤄졌다. _
_ROKS 도산 안창호는 14,000km를 이동해 Esquimalt 해군 기지에 도착했고, 캐나다 해군과 주캐나다 한국 대사, HD Hyundai Heavy Industries의 주원호 사장으로부터 환영을 받았다. _
_앞서 이번 달 Irving Shipbuilding의 디르크 레스코 사장은 한국의 울산 본사를 방문해 제조 능력과 최신 기술을 점검했다. Irving Shipbuilding은 캐나다의 3대 조선소 중 하나로 캐나다 해군의 전투 함정을 건조해 왔다. _
_주 사장은 “Davie Shipbuilding과 Irving Shipbuilding을 포함한 캐나다의 선두 조선소들과 협력 노력을 일치시켜 상호 역량을 공유하고 조선 및 해군 함정 부문에서 사업 입지를 확대하겠다”고 말했다. 또한 “캐나다와의 조선 협력을 주도해 ‘K-Defense One Team’을 이 캐나다 잠수함 프로젝트 확보에 최선을 다하겠다”고 강조했다. _
