The Samsung Lions announced they will part ways with injured American pitcher Matt Manning, who is expected to miss the rest of the year due to elbow injury.
An official said Manning was diagnosed with elbow ligament damage that will require surgery.

Manning reported elbow pains after allowing four runs on three hits, three walks and a hit-by-pitch in 2/3 of an inning during a scrimmage in Japan earlier in the week.
He traveled to South Korea for tests at four clinics, all of which confirmed ligament issues in his pitching arm.
Manning, who signed for $1 million in December and has 50 major league games on his résumé, spent the 2025 season in Triple-A with stints for the Detroit Tigers and Philadelphia Phillies, posting a 6.47 ERA over 55 2/3 innings with 60 strikeouts and 44 walks across 33 appearances.
The Lions had hoped Manning would be their No. 2 starter behind returning ace Ariel Jurado, but now must quickly search for a replacement about a month before the regular season begins.
Jurado will be away in early March to pitch for Panama at the World Baseball Classic, and the Lions are also dealing with elbow issues affecting their top South Korean pitcher Won Tae-in, who has undergone treatments in Japan and will be reevaluated next Friday at the Lions' camp in South Korea.
