The national baseball governing body announced that it will provide extra cash bonuses for the national team competing in this year’s World Baseball Classic and will raise the minimum salary for players for the first time in five years. The decisions followed the body’s executive committee meeting on Jan. 20 and its board of directors meeting held on Tuesday.
The team will receive 400 million won (about $280,000) as a bonus for reaching the quarterfinals of the World Baseball Classic, a first-time allocation for a quarterfinal appearance to help motivate the squad.
Bonuses for deeper WBC runs were also adjusted: 600 million won for a semifinal finish (double the previous amount), 800 million won for a second-place finish (up from 700 million), and 1.2 billion won for a championship (up from 1 billion won).
The minimum salary will rise from 30 million won to 33 million won starting in 2027, marking the first increase since it moved from 27 million won to 30 million won in 2021.
On-field rule changes include a modification to baserunning on force plays: with runners at first and third and two outs, a runner attempting to go straight through second base may be ruled out for abandoning the bag if he overruns the base. The runner is considered to have abandoned second as soon as both feet land on the far side of the bag, even if the throw is beat.
Additionally, umpires will be issued wireless devices to speed up video reviews and improve explanations of rulings at the bases, and the league expanded rules to discourage the mass exodus of young prospects by extending the waiting period to sign overseas with a pro club to include middle school players as well as high school graduates.

또한 4강 진출 보너스는 6억 원으로 상향되었고, 2위 보너스는 8억 원, 우승 시 보너스는 12억 원으로 늘어난다.
최저 연봉은 2027년부터 3,300만 원으로 오르며, 이는 2021년 2,700만 원에서 3,000만 원으로 오른 이래 처음이다.
현장 규칙 변경으로는 포스 플레이 상황에서 2루를 지나치는 주행에 대한 규정이 도입된다. 1루와 3루에 주자가 남고 두 아웃일 때 땅볼이 나오면 2루로 가려는 주자는 슬라이딩 대신 2루를 직접 지나쳐 도달하려 할 수 있다. 다만 이 주자가 2루를 넘겨 베이스의 반대편에 두 발이 닿으면 2루를 포기한 것으로 간주돼 런다운에 걸려 3루 주자의 득점이 3아웃이 기록되기 전에 이뤄질 수 있다.
또한 1루와 2루 심판들에게 무선 장치를 지급해 비디오 판독 속도를 높이고 심판이 판정을 더 명확히 설명할 수 있도록 했다.
젊은 선수들의 대규모 해외 이탈을 억제하기 위한 규칙 조정도 포함됐다. 현재 해외에서 처음으로 프로 계약을 체결한 고등학생 선수는 국내 구단으로 돌아와 계약하려면 2년의 대기 기간이 필요하다. 이를 중학생까지 확대해 해외에서 중학생이 고등학교를 다니며 프로 구단에 입단하는 사례를 억제하고, 이들이 이후 국내 구단과 계약할 때도 2년의 대기 기간 없이 입단할 수 있을 가능성을 시사한다.
