Director Yoo Young-eun, known for the drama “Bloody Heart,” highlighted the show's unique approach during a press conference in Seoul. He noted that the series, written by the acclaimed Hong Sisters, marks their return to pure romantic comedy after previous fantasy projects.
Filming took place in various locations, including Korea, Japan, Canada, and Italy, contributing to the series' global appeal. Yoo expressed enthusiasm for capturing the emotional nuances that arise during interpretation, aiming to blend romantic comedy with melodrama.
Kim Seon-ho, portraying the interpreter, described his character as a man of contradictions, fluent in foreign languages yet struggling to express his emotions. He dedicated four months to studying the languages he portrays, emphasizing the importance of delivering lines with both accuracy and emotion.
Go Youn-jung plays Cha Mu-hee, a character who grapples with the challenges of fame while seeking love. She described her role as one that navigates the misunderstandings inherent in romantic relationships, reflecting the duality of joy and anxiety that comes with sudden stardom.
Yoo praised the chemistry between the lead actors, recalling a successful shoot in Japan early in production that showcased their strong compatibility. "Can This Love Be Translated?” is set to premiere on Friday.
