Sunghoon of Enhypen has been selected as a torchbearer for the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan and Cortina d'Ampezzo, Italy, his agency said on Saturday.
Before his debut, Sunghoon was part of South Korea's national figure skating reserve team. Since last year, he has served as an ambassador for his country's sport and Olympic committee. He was recommended by a sponsor of the global event.
"As I am fully aware of the passion and effort by the national representatives who have shed sweat for the Winter Olympics, I have great respect and support for them," Sunghoon was quoted as saying. "I had dreamed of being part of the Olympics when I was skating, and I am thrilled to be able to fulfill that dream now as a singer."
The seven-member multinational boy group, which debuted in 2020, released its seventh EP last week.

성훈은 '겨울 올림픽을 향한 국가 대표 선수들의 열정과 노력에 대해 깊은 존경과 지지를 표한다'고 말했다.
그는 '스케이팅을 하던 시절 올림픽에 참여하는 꿈을 꿨고, 이제 가수로서 그 꿈을 이룰 수 있게 되어 매우 기쁘다'고 밝혔다.
해당 7인조 다국적 보이그룹은 2020년 데뷔했고, 지난주 일곱 번째 EP를 발매했다.
