The Samsung Lions announced on Monday the re-signing of manager Park Jin-man following consecutive postseason appearances in the Korea Baseball Organization.
Park has agreed to a new two-year contract, which includes an option for a third season, with a total value of up to 2.3 billion won (approximately $1.6 million). The agreement includes a signing bonus of 500 million won, a base salary of 500 million won per season, and the potential for an additional 100 million won per season in performance incentives.
Having first taken over as interim manager in August 2022, Park was promoted to manager prior to the 2023 season. In his first year, the Lions finished eighth out of ten teams with a record of 61 wins, 82 losses, and 1 tie, missing the postseason.
The team improved significantly, finishing in second place in 2024 with a record of 78 wins, 64 losses, and 2 ties, ultimately becoming runners-up to the Kia Tigers in the Korean Series.
This year, the Lions secured fourth place in the regular season with a 74-68-2 record and progressed through two postseason stages before being eliminated by the Hanwha Eagles in the semifinals.
These back-to-back playoff appearances mark the first time in a decade that the Lions have reached the postseason in consecutive years. The organization highlighted Park's leadership and success in developing young talent as key factors in their decision to extend his contract.

올해는 정규 시즌에서 74승 68패 2무로 4위를 차지했고, 두 단계를 통과한 후 한화 이글스와의 경기에서 패하며 포스트시즌에서 탈락했다.
이는 라이온즈가 10년 만에 두 시즌 연속으로 포스트시즌에 진출한 것이다.
