The Democratic Party of Korea (DPK) presidential candidate Lee Jae-myung maintains a significant lead in approval ratings ahead of the June 3 presidential election, according to a recent survey.
The National Barometer Survey (NBS) indicates that Lee holds 43 percent support, marking a 1 percentage point increase from the previous week. Former Prime Minister Han Duck-soo follows with 23 percent, while former Labor Minister Kim Moon-soo of the conservative People Power Party (PPP) trails with 12 percent.
Despite pressure from party leadership to consolidate their candidacies, Kim has resisted efforts to unify with Han in order to present a single candidate against Lee.
The survey was conducted by Embrain Public, Kstat Research, Korea Research, and Hankook Research, polling 1,000 individuals aged 18 and older from Monday to Wednesday. It has a margin of error of plus or minus 3.1 percentage points at a 95 percent confidence level.
