JINJU, South Gyeongsang Province — The United Nations and universities worldwide emphasized the importance of entrepreneurship in addressing rapidly changing technological trends during the opening day of the 2025 Jinju International Forum on Entrepreneurship. Jehangir Khan, secretary-general of the Council of Presidents of the U.N. General Assembly, remarked on the scarcity of effective entrepreneurship leadership in various sectors today. He asserted that strong leadership is crucial for the success of any nation or organization.
Khan urged entrepreneurs to engage proactively with the AI revolution to ensure that technology serves humanity rather than disrupts it. He warned that poor leadership and corruption could hinder entrepreneurial efforts, highlighting the importance of the U.N. SDGs.
In the second session, educators from the United States, Malaysia, and Korea discussed how their institutions are preparing students to become future entrepreneurs amidst global challenges. Stuart Rayfield, president of Columbus State University in Georgia, shared her institution's approach to addressing local issues through education. She noted successful partnerships with local industries to develop relevant curricula, including a recent data analytics program that collaborates with the Columbus Fire Department.
Rayfield emphasized the importance of equipping students with essential skills such as communication and problem-solving, stating that adaptability is crucial for aspiring entrepreneurs.
