Korea reported a highly pathogenic avian influenza (AI) case at a wild geese farm in the country's southwest, authorities said Monday.
The case was discovered at a small wild geese farm in Gwangju last Tuesday, prompting authorities to raise the alert level and implement quarantine measures, according to the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs.
The ministry announced that the AI crisis alert has been elevated from "caution" to "severe," leading to the activation of local livestock disease control centers in all municipalities.
Under the "severe" alert, frequent inspections at poultry farms will be conducted, and restrictions will be imposed on the periods for mass stocking and shipment at broiler and duck farms. Additionally, gatherings or events involving personnel working at livestock and poultry farms will be prohibited.
An initial epidemiological investigation at the affected farm revealed violations of operational regulations, including unregistered livestock operations and a lack of regular disinfection of facilities, the ministry stated.

피해 농장에서 실시된 초기 역학 조사에 따르면, 해당 농장은 등록되지 않은 가축 운영 및 시설의 정기적인 소독 미이행 등 운영 규정을 위반한 것으로 나타났습니다.
