Leaders of global companies are set to convene in Gyeongju for the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) CEO Summit, which will take place over four days starting October 28. The summit aims to foster cooperation and explore business opportunities in areas such as artificial intelligence (AI), carbon neutrality, and sustainable value chains.
Notable industry figures, including Jensen Huang, founder and CEO of Nvidia, will attend, alongside leaders from technology, finance, manufacturing, energy, and platform sectors. Approximately 1,700 representatives from leading global businesses, including major Korean conglomerates such as Samsung Electronics, SK Group, Hyundai Motor, and LG Group, are expected to participate in the event.
Huang's visit is particularly significant, as it will mark his first trip to Korea despite Nvidia's reliance on Korean chipmakers like Samsung Electronics and SK hynix for critical memory supplies. He is scheduled to deliver a speech during a special session on October 31 at 4 p.m., where he will outline Nvidia's vision for advancing technological innovation globally, including in AI, robotics, digital twins, and autonomous driving.
His participation is anticipated to elevate the profile of the APEC CEO Summit, given Nvidia's status as a leading supplier of AI accelerators for data centers, prompting close attention from economies worldwide. The Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) and SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won personally invited Huang to enhance the summit's visibility.
Officials expect Huang may hold separate discussions with prominent Korean executives, such as Samsung Electronics Executive Chairman Lee Jae-yong and Chey, to explore collaborative opportunities in the AI sector.
In addition to Huang, confirmed attendees include executives from Amazon Web Services, Meta, Microsoft, and Google, as well as major Korean tech leaders such as Naver's CEO and LG AI Research Head.
This year's APEC CEO Summit will feature a format that allows business leaders to engage directly with presidents and ministers to align interests in investment and collaboration, a departure from previous editions.
The agenda includes panel discussions and speeches addressing pressing global issues facing public and private companies, with a total of 20 sessions, 85 speakers, and over 19 hours of discourse planned.
A KCCI representative stated that key topics will include AI ethics, environmental and social governance investments, and bridging the digital divide. The summit aims to evolve APEC from a purely economic cooperative to a strategic platform for global governance.
Additionally, the event will highlight Korean companies and brands in sectors such as AI, defense, shipbuilding, and digital assets through initiatives like the K-Tech Innovation Showcase, promoting advancements in various fields.
KCCI Executive Vice Chairman Park Il-joon expressed optimism that the 2025 APEC CEO Summit will transform challenges into tangible business opportunities, bolstering Korea's global standing and fostering new growth avenues in the AI era.
According to KCCI data, the summit is projected to generate an economic impact of 7.4 trillion won (approximately $5.2 billion) and create around 22,000 new jobs.

가장 주목할 점은 황의 한국 방문이다. 엔비디아는 삼성전자와 SK hynix와 같은 한국 반도체 제조업체에 의존하고 있지만, 이번이 황의 한국 방문은 처음이다.

KCCI는 올해의 APEC CEO 정상회의는 이전과 다르게 사업 리더들이 각국 대통령 및 장관들과 일대일로 만나 투자 및 협력에 대한 공통 관심사를 발견할 수 있을 것이라고 밝혔다.
행사는 전 세계의 공공 및 민간 기업과 관련된 현재의 글로벌 이슈를 다루는 패널 토론 및 연설이 포함될 예정이다. 정상회의는 총 20개의 세션과 85명의 연사, CEO 및 대통령을 포함하여 19시간 이상의 토론을 포함한다.
한국상공회의소 회장 및 SK그룹 회장 최태원은 목요일 플로리다 마라라구에서 글로벌 비즈니스 리더들과의 회의를 위해 서울을 떠났다.
KCCI 관계자는 “AI 윤리, 환경-사회-지배구조 투자, 디지털 격차 해소와 같은 글로벌 의제가 우리의 초점이 될 것”이라고 말했다. “이번 정상회의는 APEC을 경제 협력을 넘어 글로벌 거버넌스를 선도하는 전략적 플랫폼으로 만들 것”이라고 덧붙였다.
APEC CEO 정상회의는 본 행사와 동시에 한국 기업과 브랜드를 AI, 방위, 조선, 디지털 자산, 에너지 및 유통 산업에서 선보일 예정이다. K-Tech 혁신 전시회 및 기타 부스를 통해 이들 기업은 새로운 기술, 음식, 주류, 뷰티 제품, 예술 및 다양한 부문의 발전을 홍보할 것이다.
KCCI의 부회장 박일준은 “2025 APEC CEO 정상회의는 우리의 우려와 걱정을 실제 비즈니스 기회로 전환할 것”이라고 말했다. “중앙 및 지역 정부와 기업들은 정상회의를 준비해왔고, 이번 정상회의가 한국의 글로벌 위상을 높이고 AI 시대의 새로운 성장 동력을 witness하는 계기가 되기를 바란다.”
KCCI는 딜로이트의 데이터를 인용하여 이번 행사가 7.4조 원(52억 달러)의 경제 가치를 창출하고 22,000개의 새로운 일자리를 만들 것이라고 밝혔다.
