Lee went 3-for-4 with his 12th triple of the year as the Giants defeated the Colorado Rockies 6-3 at Oracle Park in San Francisco. He hit the triple off the bottom of the right-center field wall in the second inning, with the ball traveling 387 feet at a 22-degree launch angle. This hit would have been a home run in 22 of the 30 Major League Baseball stadiums.
With this achievement, Lee moved into sole possession of third place in MLB for triples this season, trailing only Corbin Carroll of the Arizona Diamondbacks (17) and Jarren Duran of the Boston Red Sox (13). He also tied Hall of Famer Ichiro Suzuki for the most triples by an Asian player in a season, matching Ichiro's total of 12 triples from 2005.
Lee, who wears Ichiro's former number 51 in tribute to the retired Japanese superstar, flied out in the third inning but later singled in the sixth and seventh innings. He has now recorded hits in three consecutive games after a seven-game hitless streak earlier in September. His batting average for September stands at .303, while his season average is .264.
In the eighth inning, Lee made an error by catching a fly ball and tossing it to the stands, mistakenly believing the inning was over. This error allowed the runner at first base to advance to third. However, reliever Joel Peguero struck out Blaine Crim to end the inning, mitigating the situation.
In other MLB news, Kim Hye-seong batted 1-for-4 in his first start for the Los Angeles Dodgers since September 8, contributing to the team's 3-2 victory over the Seattle Mariners.
