Samsung Electro-Mechanics hosted the 2025 Samsung Automotive-Component Tech-Day in Tianjin, China, to demonstrate its commitment to the evolving global automotive electronics market.
The annual event, held on Thursday and Friday, attracted over 100 clients from approximately 30 global carmakers and auto parts manufacturers.
The company highlighted the importance of high-performance multi-layer ceramic capacitors (MLCCs) in the future of mobility, noting the automotive industry's shift towards integrating artificial intelligence (AI) and robotics.
MLCCs are vital components in vehicles, used to stabilize power for semiconductors and are essential for autonomous driving and electric vehicles (EVs).
Samsung Electro-Mechanics showcased its technological capabilities in developing MLCCs and emphasized the reliability of its products. The company stated it can ensure a stable supply of these auto parts through stringent quality control and expanded production at its smart manufacturing facilities.
The firm also provided a tour of its Tianjin production line to demonstrate the quality of its automotive MLCCs, which are designed to endure high voltage and temperatures.
In 2024, Samsung Electro-Mechanics reported automotive MLCC sales of 1 trillion won ($730 million). Following this success, the company plans to expand its product portfolio to include camera modules and semiconductor package substrates, anticipating a significant increase in demand for these products in next-generation smart vehicles.
Lee Tae-gon, executive vice president and head of strategic marketing at Samsung Electro-Mechanics, stated, “We are witnessing rapid innovation and technological convergence in the automotive sector. Our goal is to become the ideal innovation partner for our clients by delivering differentiated products and solutions.”
According to market tracker Reports Insights, the global automotive MLCC market is expected to grow from 6.7 trillion won in 2025 to approximately 16 trillion won by 2033.
