President Yoon Suk Yeol and Czech Republic's Prime Minister Petr Fiala recently agreed on action plans to enhance the strategic partnership between their countries over the next three years. The new plan, set to take effect in 2025, aims to expand cooperation beyond the potential nuclear export deal from South Korea to the Czech Republic, encompassing various industries such as clean mobility, hydrogen technology, public transport, space activities, low-carbon technologies, and national defense. The collaboration will also involve establishing centers for high-tech industries like secondary batteries, future vehicles, semiconductors, and robots in the Czech Republic, along with encouraging research projects in electric vehicles, EV batteries, artificial intelligence, digital technologies, semiconductor development, and more. During President Yoon's visit, 56 memoranda of understanding were signed, emphasizing the commitment to boosting bilateral trade and investment through initiatives like the Trade and Investment Promotion Framework and the Supply Chain and Energy Dialogue at the ministerial level. The partnership is poised to leverage the Czech Republic's manufacturing expertise with South Korea's technological advancements to drive economic growth. The upcoming finalization of a contract to construct nuclear power units in the Czech Republic is expected to lead to a comprehensive civil nuclear energy cooperation, marking a significant step towards establishing a "nuclear energy alliance" between Seoul and Prague. Prime Minister Fiala expressed interest in further collaboration in areas such as small modular reactors, hydrogen technologies, military equipment, and trains, underlining the promising prospects for future cooperation between the two nations.
