Samsung Electronics Chairman Lee Jae-yong traveled to France to attend the closing ceremony of WorldSkills Lyon 2024 in order to demonstrate support for young talent, the company announced. During the ceremony, he met with Korean competitors and emphasized the company's dedication to assisting young people in their vocational training, stating that their hard work is the cornerstone of South Korea's technology prowess. Samsung has been a WorldSkills Global Partner since 2007 and has been the primary sponsor of the event since 2013. At the ceremony, Lee presented medals to Kim Ji-han and Shin Joon-ho for their silver win in the Mechatronics competition. South Korea achieved significant success in this year's competition, securing numerous medals and excellence awards across a wide range of skill areas. Lee's interest in promoting vocational training for youth dates back to 2006, and this marks his third participation in the international competition. Additionally, during his trip to Europe, Lee visited Poland to tour the company's production and research facilities and to discuss local business strategies. Samsung's presence in Poland dates back to 1990, with the company maintaining production headquarters in Wronki and sales headquarters and a research center in Warsaw. During his visit, Lee also engaged in discussions about local business strategies for smartphones, TVs, and vacuum cleaners.
