Hyundai Motor bolsters hydrogen push in Czech

Hyundai Motor Group has reaffirmed its dedication to the hydrogen fuel cell vehicles sector in the Czech Republic, a rapidly growing market for environmentally friendly transportation. During a signing ceremony in Prague, Ken Ramirez, Hyundai Motor Group's vice president of global commercial vehicle and hydrogen business division, and Skoda Electric CEO Jaromir Silhanek came together to collaborate on advancing hydrogen-powered mobility solutions. The partnership agreement was inked amidst South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol's official visit to the Czech Republic, coinciding with efforts to finalize a significant nuclear export deal worth $18 billion. Hyundai Motor Group's Executive Chair Chung Euisun was reported to be accompanying President Yoon on this visit, which also includes participation in the Korea-Czech business forum. Hyundai Motor Group intends to introduce Skoda Electric vehicles integrated with its hydrogen fuel cell technology, while also focusing on developing hydrogen fuel cell systems, energy-efficient solutions, and exploring business prospects in the hydrogen ecosystem beyond just transportation. The Czech Republic has set ambitious targets of having 40,000-50,000 hydrogen cars on the roads and establishing up to 40 hydrogen charging stations by 2030, with Ramirez expressing confidence in achieving the country's net-zero goals through collaboration with Skoda Electric and leveraging Hyundai's hydrogen fuel cell expertise. Additionally, Hyundai Motor Group plans to engage in academic and technological partnerships with the Technical University of Ostrava and South Korea's research institutions to drive innovation in future mobility solutions.
