<p>Anthropic opened a Seoul office to strengthen its ties with Korea’s AI ecosystem as it expands the use of its Claude technology in the region. The move accompanies growing enterprise adoption of Claude across Korean companies and institutions.</p>
<p>Anthropic Korea Representative Director Choi Ki-young, who recently joined the company, emphasized that Korean organizations view innovation and safety as compatible goals. He noted that Claude is being used to generate positive impacts for millions worldwide and that the Seoul office aims to establish a long-term collaboration with Korea’s AI sector.</p>
<p>Anthropic International Managing Director Chris Ciauri said AI safety is the company’s primary responsibility and aligned with Korea’s AI Framework Act, signaling a shared philosophy that supports launching operations in Korea. He cited momentum in enterprise, developer, and startup segments as the company expands locally.</p>
<p>In Korea, Claude has gained traction through partnerships with WRTN Technologies and Law&Company, with major conglomerates expanding its use. Naver deployed Claude Code for its engineering unit, and Nexon began using Claude Code for live-service game development. LG CNS plans to roll out Claude for its employees and expand to the broader LG Group, while Samsung SDS is introducing Claude Cowork and Claude Code for Samsung Electronics staff.</p>
<p>Choi indicated plans to collaborate with the National AI Research Lab, which includes leading local institutions, to support Korea’s AI ecosystem. Anthropic has hosted events for domestic developers, such as Claude Build Day, and held a closed-door meeting with officials from major Korean companies to discuss business plans in Korea.</p>
<p>Revenue figures cited by Ciauri indicated growth from $9 billion at the end of 2025 to about $47 billion in the weeks prior, with expectations of similar expansion in Korea. Questions at the press conference over U.S. export controls on Mythos 5 and Fable 5 and related access restrictions to Korean institutions were not answered by company officials. Reports later linked these restrictions to concerns about ties between a Korean telecom operator and China. </p>

<p>최 대표는 앤트로픽에 합류하기 두 주 전까지 구글 클라우드, 마이크로소프트 코리아, 어도비, 스노우플레이크 등에서 리더십을 맡아온 디지털 인프라 분야의 베테랑이다.</p>
<p>앤트로픽의 국제 최고경영책임자(CIO)인 크리스 차우리(CIAURI)도 앤트로픽의 궁극적 책임은 AI 안전에 있으며, 이를 한국 정부의 AI 프레임워크법과 정렬시키려 한다고 밝혔다.</p>

<p>한국의 AI 생태계 성장을 지원하기 위해 최 대표는 한국과 연계된 대규모 연구 네트워크인 National AI Research Lab와 협력할 계획이라고 밝혔다. 이 연구단은 카이스트(KAIST), 고려대, 연세대, 포스텍 등과 같은 국내 주요 기관으로 구성된다.</p>
