The Korean football champions Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors have signed former national team defender Park Ji-soo as part of their winter squad overhaul.
The 31-year-old center back joins the club after spending the last three years playing in Portugal and China. His last appearance in Korea was with the military club Gimcheon Sangmu FC in 2022.
Park has earned 16 international caps and has previously represented Korea at the under-17 and under-23 levels.
Jeonbuk stated, "As a proven defender with great leadership skills, Park Ji-soo will further strengthen our defense and help us win the league title in 2026." They highlighted his abilities in man-to-man marking and his capacity to initiate plays from the back.
Park expressed his commitment to the club, stating he understands Jeonbuk's "philosophy of winning" and aims to play tough defense in every match to make the fans proud.
In 2025, Jeonbuk conceded the fewest goals among the 12 teams in K League 1, allowing only 32 goals in 38 matches, marking them as the only club to concede less than a goal per match.
Following their successes in winning both the K League 1 title and the Korea Cup trophy, Jeonbuk has also appointed a new head coach, Chung Jung-yong, replacing Gus Poyet, who resigned after one season. The club has parted ways with veteran center backs Park Jin-seob and Hong Jeong-ho, as well as star midfielders Song Min-kyu and Kwon Chang-hoon.
