A K League 1 club announced it has acquired attacking midfielder Song Min-kyu, reuniting him with the first head coach he played for in the league. Song, 26, spent the past five seasons with Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors, and in 2025 helped the team secure a domestic double by winning the K League 1 title and the Korea Cup, with five goals and two assists in 35 appearances. He was named to the season-end K League 1 Best XI.
Song began his career with Pohang Steelers in 2018, where he played under Kim Gi-dong, who later became the current head coach of the club and served as his top assistant. Kim was promoted to head coach in 2019, and in 2020 Song was voted the K League 1 Young Player of the Year after recording 10 goals and six assists in 27 matches.
He has earned 14 caps for Korea and was included in the 2022 FIFA World Cup squad, though he did not play in Qatar. He was also part of Korea's gold-medal-winning team at the 2023 Asian Games.
Song is known for his speed and dribbling, can operate across multiple offensive positions, and can create chances through linkup play.
"I am really looking forward to playing for coach Kim Gi-dong again," Song said. "When he reached out, I told him I wanted to be with him again. I will try to put up even better numbers than in the past and make FC Seoul fans happy."
The club finished sixth in 2025, down from fourth in 2024, and has been active in recruiting. It added Colombian forward Leonardo Ruiz, who scored 17 goals for Seongnam FC last year and ranked second in the K League 2, along with Croatian midfielder Hrvoje Babec, a former top French league prospect.

2025년 6위를 기록했고 2024년의 4위에서 하락한 뒤 이 구단은 신선한 선수 영입에 나섰다. 또한 지난해 K리그2에서 17골로 2위를 차지한 콜롬비아 출신의 공격수 레오나르도 루이즈와 프랑스 리그 유망주로 주목받던 크로아티아 출신의 미드필더 Hrvoje Babec를 영입했다.
