The Democratic Party of Korea (DPK) urged the Seoul High Court on Monday to delay the review of a verdict against its presidential candidate, Lee Jae-myung, until after the June 3 election. The party described the situation as a potential "judiciary coup" and pledged to utilize all available powers to prevent it.
This statement from the DPK follows the Supreme Court's recent decision to overturn the high court's acquittal in an Election Law violation case involving Lee, which was announced last Thursday. The case has been sent back to the high court, with the first hearing scheduled for May 15.
Rep. Yun Ho-jung, a senior official in the DPK's election committee, indicated during a press conference that if the high court does not agree to postpone the trial by May 12, the party will take action to thwart what it perceives as a judicial overreach. May 12 marks the start of official campaigning for the upcoming presidential election.
Yun emphasized the party's commitment to blocking the high court's trial proceedings and stated, "We clearly express our intent to block the high court's trial proceedings."

이번 성명은 대법원이 이 후보와 관련된 공직선거법 위반 사건에서 고등법원의 무죄 판결을 뒤집고 사건을 다시 고등법원으로 송환한 후 나온 것이다.
이 사건의 첫 재판은 5월 15일에 예정되어 있다. 더불어민주당 선거대책위원회 고위 관계자인 윤호중 의원은 기자회견에서 "고등법원이 5월 12일까지 재판 연기를 결정하지 않는다면, 우리는 국민이 부여한 모든 권한을 사용해 사법 쿠데타가 발생하지 않도록 할 것"이라고 말했다.
5월 12일은 6월 대선 공식 선거 운동이 시작되는 날이다. 그는 "(우리는) 고등법원의 재판 절차를 차단할 의지를 분명히 한다"고 덧붙였다.
