
The American Chamber of Commerce in Korea has partnered with Tools for Humanity, the developer of Worldcoin, to emphasize the importance of protecting personal data in the age of artificial intelligence. The two organizations recently signed a memorandum of understanding in Seoul to launch the "#IAmHuman" campaign, which aims to underscore the significance of safeguarding personal identity within an AI-driven economy. AmCham Chairman and CEO James Kim stated that the partnership is dedicated to promoting the protection of personal identity in the AI-powered economy and creating a business environment that leverages new technologies to benefit humanity. Tools for Humanity CEO Alex Blania highlighted the importance of improving digital literacy and digital identification protection for individuals in South Korea. The company's World ID project, which utilizes iris scanning technology to certify individuals' "humanness," was also discussed. Blania expressed South Korea's position as an ideal partner in exploring the potential of blockchain and its applications, emphasizing the country's progressive stance and strong workforce. The signing ceremony, attended by key policymakers and industry experts, featured a fireside chat between Kim and Blania, during which they discussed the role and goal of Tools for Humanity in addressing global challenges related to personal identification in the digital realm. Blania emphasized the need for a collaborative global approach to tackle these issues, acknowledging South Korea as a key market for building a strong relationship with Tools for Humanity.
