<p>The Ministry of Employment and Labor announced comprehensive inspections of POSCO E&C following multiple fatal industrial accidents at the company’s construction sites, including the recent death of a subcontracted worker at the Sinansan Line project in Seoul.</p>
<p>Minister Kim Young-hoon, who is attending the International Labour Organization conference in Geneva, was briefed on the latest incident and ordered inspections of POSCO E&C’s headquarters and all construction sites nationwide.</p>
<p>The inspections follow an accident at a Sinansan Line site on Tuesday in which a 35-year-old subcontracted worker fell about 15 meters while widening an opening for cable tray installation.</p>
<p>The ministry noted that one worker died in 2023, three in 2024, and five last year at POSCO E&C construction sites.</p>
<p>In cooperation with the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, labor authorities will inspect Sinansan Line construction sites to assess overall safety management on the project.</p>
<p>The ministry will also audit the company headquarters to verify the implementation of safety management improvements recommended in January, with violations potentially leading to strict penalties.</p>
<p>Upon returning to Korea, Kim is expected to summon POSCO E&C’s chief executives and other POSCO affiliates with repeated fatal accidents to review safety practices and demand concrete preventative measures.</p>
<p>Kim stated that those responsible will be held accountable through a swift investigation and that the POSCO Group must adopt fundamental measures to prevent further serious accidents.</p>
