LS Electric secured a major contract valued at $70 million (105.6 billion won) to supply extra-high-voltage transformers to a U.S. energy infrastructure firm, the company announced on Monday.
Under the agreement, LS Power Solution, which was acquired by LS Electric in 2024, will provide 345-kilovolt-class transformers for a large-scale data center operated by a prominent technology company in the United States. Deliveries are planned from the fourth quarter of 2027 to the first half of 2028, according to LS Electric.
The contract strengthens the company’s presence in North America amid rising electricity demand linked to artificial intelligence and cloud computing, requiring more investment in stable and efficient power infrastructure across the region.
The expansion comes amid a pledge by seven global technology firms to source electricity for their data centers from self-built generation facilities rather than public grids.
LS Electric has been expanding its footprint across the data center power value chain.
Last September, the company secured a $46 million U.S. contract to supply power distribution solutions for a microgrid project. The current deal broadens its role to include extra-high-voltage transformers, highlighting capabilities across transmission and distribution.
The end client is described as a major tech company, though the name was not disclosed due to a nondisclosure agreement.
“Following our earlier supply of power distribution solutions, we have now been selected as a provider of extra-high-voltage transformers, demonstrating our reliability across the full power spectrum,” an official said.
LS Power Solution has been identified as one of five key suppliers of extra-high-voltage transformers to the national utility, with LS Power Solution expanding its product lineup to include 345-kilovolt systems and broadening its global customer base after the acquisition by LS Electric.
The North American market for data center power infrastructure is projected to reach about $37.2 billion by 2035, with an estimated annual growth rate of 16 percent from 2025, according to market data.

LS Electric은 데이터 센터 전력 가치 사슬 전반에서 존재감을 강화해 왔다. 지난해 9월 미국에서 마이크로그리드 프로젝트의 전력 분배 솔루션 공급 계약 4,600만 달러를 체결한 바 있으며, 이번 계약으로 초고압 변압기의 공급도 포함하게 되어 송전과 배전 전반에 걸친 기술 능력을 강조하게 됐다. LS Electric은 최종 고객이 대형 기술기업이라고 밝혔으나 비공개 협약으로 이름은 밝히지 않았다. LS Electric 측 관계자는 “이전의 전력 분배 솔루션 공급에 이어 초고압 변압기 공급자로 선정되었음을 통해 전력 스펙트럼 전반에 걸친 기술적 신뢰성을 입증했다”고 말했다. LS Power Solution은 국내에서 한국전력공사에 대한 다섯 대형 초고압 변압기 공급업체 중 하나로 인정받아 왔으며, LS Electric에 인수된 이후 345킬로볼트 시스템을 포함한 제품 라인업을 확장하고 글로벌 고객 기반을 넓혔다. 북미 데이터 센터용 전력 인프라 시장은 2035년까지 약 372억 달러로 추정되며, 2025년부터 연평균 성장률이 약 16%에 이를 것으로 데이터 연구기관은 전망했다.
