Lee Jung-hoo of the Giants hits a single that scored a run against the Dodgers in the first inning at Oracle Park in San Francisco, Tuesday (local time).
Lee Jung-hoo of the Giants collected two hits and drove in a run to help the club take the upper hand over fellow Korean player Kim Hye-seong.
Lee, who batted sixth and started in right field, went 2-for-3 with an RBI to help the Giants beat the Dodgers 3-1 at Oracle Park in San Francisco on Tuesday (local time).
Lee has shaken off a slow start, raising his batting average from .185 on April 12 to .259 after Tuesday's game, with seven multihit games this season, including three in his last five.
Kim Hye-seong started at shortstop and batted seventh, had a hit in his lone at-bat and drew a bases-loaded walk for the Dodgers' only run, and is batting .333 in 13 games after being recalled from Triple-A on April 5. He also committed an error in the first inning that contributed to all three Giants’ runs in the frame.
This was the first meeting of the season between the two Korean players in MLB.
In the opening frame, Kim fielded a grounder hit by Willy Adames but from the outfield grass threw into the first-base dugout, allowing Adames to advance to second base.
The Giants loaded the bases with a single and a walk, and after a hit and a sacrifice fly made it 2-0, Lee lined a single to right to extend the lead to 3-0.
Kim singled in the second inning and drew an eight-pitch, bases-loaded walk in the fourth to cut the deficit to 3-1.
Lee was thrown out at home in the bottom of the sixth while attempting to score from first on a single by Heliot Ramos; a throw from Dodgers center fielder Alex Call to Freeland at second, followed by Freeland's throw home, beat Lee as he slid into the plate.
Lee played one more defensive inning in the seventh before being replaced by Jerar Encarnacion to start the top of the eighth.
He said he strained his quad in Washington over the weekend and aggravated it again today.
Giants manager Tony Vitello said he expects Lee to play Wednesday against the Dodgers, describing the exit as precautionary after tough slides recently.
Kim, who bats left-handed, was lifted for right-handed pinch hitter Miguel Rojas when left-handed reliever Matt Gage started the top seventh.

\"최근에 몇 차례 강한 슬라이드가 있었지만, 그는 열심히 뛰고 있다.\"고 비텔로는 말했다. \"그는 기분이 어떻든 간에 뛸 의지가 있다. 다만 plate에서의 두 차례 슬라이딩으로 생긴 거친 피부 부위가 악화됐을 가능성이 있다.\"
왼손 타자인 김혜성은 좌완 투수 매트 게이지가 등판해 7회 초를 시작할 때 오른손 타자인 미구엘 로하스로 대타 교체됐다.
