A new initiative aims to help out-of-school youths return to education and rebuild their lives.
The program, called Youth Bridge, brings together four partners — Hana Financial Group, the Federation of Korean Industries (FKI), the Korea Youth Counseling & Welfare Institute (KYCI) and broadcaster EBS — under a joint agreement signed this week.
Targeting individuals aged 9 to 24 who have left formal education, the program will develop an integrated support system addressing emotional well-being and pathways back to school or into the workforce, leveraging each partner’s strengths.
Hana Financial Group will anchor the effort with hands-on support, including offline job training and financial education on credit management and fraud prevention. It will expand activities to prevent and treat illegal gambling, building on a related project launched in 2024 with the Financial Supervisory Service, valued at about 10 billion won.
Participants will also have access to a tour of Hana’s headquarters, including facilities such as Hana Infinity Seoul and the anti-counterfeiting response center.
Each partner has a distinct role: the FKI will design and run alternative education programs for out-of-school youth; the KYCI will identify eligible participants through its network of youth support centers; and EBS will provide online learning materials and a digital platform to help students prepare for equivalent qualification exams and the College Scholastic Ability Test.
Hana Financial Group은 학교를 중단한 청소년들이 교육으로 돌아가 삶을 재구성할 수 있도록 돕는 새로운 이니셔티브를 시작했다. 이 프로그램은 Youth Bridge로 불리며, Hana Financial Group, 전국경제인연합회(FKI), 한국청소년상담복지기관(KYCI), 방송사 EBS의 네 파트너가 금요일 체결한 공동 협약 아래 합류했다. 이 initiative는 9세에서 24세 사이로 교육을 형식적으로 중단한 이들을 대상으로 하며, 심리적·사회적 어려움으로 인해 학업 중단이 잦다. 네 기관은 전문지식을 모아 이들의 정서적 안녕과 학교 복귀 또는 노동시장 진입으로의 경로를 다루는 통합 지원 체계를 구축할 예정이다. 금융그룹은 현장 직업훈련과 신용 관리 및 사기 방지 등 금융교육을 포함한 실질적 지원으로 프로그램을 주도할 예정이다. 또한 2024년 금융감독원과 함께 시작한 불법 도박 예방 및 치료 노력을 확대할 계획이다. 또한 Hana의 본사 투어도 제공되며, 국내 최대 규모의 거래소 중 하나를 보유한 ‘하나 인피니티 서울’과 은행의 위조방지 대응센터를 둘러볼 수 있다. 각 파트너는 고유한 역할을 수행한다. FKI은 학교를 다니지 않는 청소년을 대상으로 한 대안교육 프로그램을 설계하고 운영할 것이다. KYCI는 전국 222곳의 청소년 지원 센터 네트워크를 통해 자격 요건에 부합하는 참여자를 발굴하는 역할을 맡는다. EBS는 온라인 학습 자료와 자격증 시험 준비를 돕는 디지털 플랫폼을 제공해 정식 교육 학위에 상응하는 자격시험 및 대학수학능력시험 준비를 지원한다. “Youth Bridge는 학교를 다니지 않는 청소년들이 새로운 출발을 할 수 있는 발판이 될 것”이라고 Hana Financial Group의 Ham Young-joo 회장이 말했다. “이 청년들을 지원하는 것은 사회 전체가 감당해야 할 책임이다.”
