AMD CEO Lisa Su visited Korea for the first time since her 2014 appointment, signaling intent to strengthen ties with Korean tech firms amid competition with Nvidia in the AI chip market.
Samsung Electronics invited Su to a banquet at the company’s guest house in Seoul ahead of their discussions.
Prior to the meeting, Su toured Samsung’s Pyeongtaek semiconductor plant and signed a memorandum of understanding to expand collaboration on next‑generation AI memory and computing technologies.
Under the agreement, AMD named Samsung as the primary supplier of HBM4 high‑bandwidth memory for its Instinct MI455X GPUs and advanced DRAM for sixth‑generation EPYC CPUs, codenamed “Venice.”
