The Kia Tigers were named the most popular club in Korean baseball for the second consecutive year in a national poll conducted by Gallup Korea. The survey covered 1,000 adults aged 18 and older, conducted last week, as the 2026 Korea Baseball Organization season began on Saturday.
The Tigers received 13 percent of the vote as the favorite KBO club, matching their support level from 2025, a year after they won their 12th Korean Series title. They finished eighth in 2025, missing the postseason.
The Hanwha Eagles ranked second with 10 percent support, followed by the Samsung Lions and Lotte Giants tied for third with nine percent each. The LG Twins received five percent of supporter share.
Respondents showed optimism for this season, with 13 percent predicting the Twins will win the KBO title, followed by nine percent for the Eagles. The KBO has not had a repeat champion since the Doosan Bears won in 2015 and 2016.
In player popularity, Lee Jung-hoo of the San Francisco Giants led with 13 percent, followed by Ryu Hyun-jin of the Eagles at 10 percent, and Kim Do-yeong of the Tigers (the 2024 KBO MVP) at six percent. The survey has a margin of error of 3.1 percentage points with a 95 percent confidence level.
