Other senior officials scheduled to attend include the finance minister, industry minister, trade minister and the floor leader of the ruling party. The group is expected to discuss response measures to the Trump administration's follow-up steps to the court ruling as well as the status of investment projects in the United States.
Hours after the ruling, the administration announced a provisional 10 percent global tariff under a specific provision of the 1974 Trade Act, with the measure set to take effect at 12:01 a.m. Tuesday (Washington time). On Saturday, the president indicated the global tariff rate would increase to 15 percent in a social media post.
The previous reciprocal tariffs included a 15 percent levy on Korean goods, reduced from 25 percent under a bilateral deal in which Seoul pledged to invest $350 billion in the United States, among other commitments, in exchange for tariff relief.
