The organizer of Hannover Messe announced in Seoul that this year’s fair will focus on exhibitions featuring artificial intelligence (AI), robotics and defense technologies. A major Korean exhibitor is returning after seven years, and around 70 Korean institutions and companies, including small machinery and robotics firms, will participate to explore how to navigate rapid changes in the industrial landscape.
“Korea is a country that perfectly fits into Hannover Messe,” said Hubertus von Monschaw, global director of the organizer, during a press conference. “The strong attendance and the knowledge that comes from your country are highly appreciated.”
This year’s exhibition will take place from April 20 to 24 in the German city of Hanover, under the theme “Think Tech Forward.”
For the first time since the annual fair began in 1947, there will be a display dedicated to manufacturing technologies for the defense sector. “Why we are looking at that is because there’s a very high demand for defense technology,” the global director said. “It’s not that we have defense products themselves on the shelf. It’s about the manufacturing of them and how to scale that production up.”
Among the developments highlighted, a humanoid robot developed by a multinational company was showcased at a prominent consumer electronics show earlier this year, and several exhibitors at Hannover Messe will demonstrate how humanoid robots are already being used in production.
Eight Korean firms will showcase their technologies at the Korea Pavilion, which will also feature exhibitions by sixteen machinery companies. An industry association official said Hannover Messe will offer an opportunity to showcase globally the Korean machinery and robotics industries’ ability to integrate AI into their businesses and highlight their leadership in the industrial AI sector.
One of the larger Korean exhibitors will operate a separate booth at the fair, with organizers noting that major Korean participants had been absent from the event since the COVID-19 disruption in 2020.

글로벌 디렉터 후베르투스 폰 몽샤우는 "한국은 하노버 메세에 완벽하게 부합하는 나라다"라며, "한국의 강한 참가와 그 나라에서 얻는 지식은 크게 평가된다"고 말했다.
올해 행사는 4월 20일부터 24일까지 독일 하노버에서 개최되며, 주제는 "Think Tech Forward"이다.
1947년 창설 이래 처음으로 방위 분야 제조 기술에 중점을 둔 전시가 마련된다. 전시 주최 측은 방위 기술에 대한 수요가 매우 높기 때문이라고 설명했다.
글로벌 디렉터는 "방위 기술에 대한 수요가 매우 높다"며 "우리는 방위 제품 자체를 전시하는 것이 아니라 이를 제조하고 생산 규모를 확대하는 방법에 관한 것"이라고 말했다.
그는 CES 2026에서 미국 자회사에서 개발한 Atlas 휴머노이드 로봇의 도입을 언급했고, 하노버 메세에 참가하는 다수의 전시 업체들이 이미 생산 현장에서 휴머노이드 로봇을 어떻게 활용하는지 시연할 예정이라고 밝혔다.
참가 로봇 기업 중 한국의 8개 기업이 한국관에서 기술을 선보이며, 한국관은 한국 측 기관이 운영한다. 또한 16개의 기계류 기업의 전시도 함께 이뤄진다.
한국관의 공동 주최 측은 한국의 산업지능화 협회로 알려져 있으며, 전시관은 글로벌 무대에서 한국의 기계 및 로봇 산업의 인공지능(AI) 통합 역량을 보여줄 기회를 제공할 것이라고 말했다.
한국에서 규모가 가장 큰 참가 업체는 별도 부스를 운영할 예정이다.
과거에는 하노버 메세의 정기 참가자였으나 2020년 코로나19 팬데믹 이후로는 참가하지 않았다.
다른 한 기업은 2024년까지 박람회에 참가해 왔지만, 지난해 주요 대기업들은 행사에 참석하지 않았다.
