President Lee Jae Myung expressed deep condolences to the victims of a deadly train crash in Spain that killed 42 people.
In a message posted on X, which was translated into Spanish, he wrote: "I express my deep condolences to the victims of the high-speed train accident that occurred in Cordoba Province, Spain," and "I wish a speedy recovery to all those injured, and extend my deepest condolences to the bereaved family members and all the people of Spain."
The message comes amid ongoing search and rescue efforts in Spain following one of the worst rail crashes in the country's history.
On Sunday, carriages on a Madrid-bound train derailed and crossed onto the opposite tracks, colliding with an oncoming train in Cordoba Province. About 500 passengers were on board, and at least 42 people were killed.

이 메시지는 스페인에서의 역대 최악의 열차 사고 중 하나로 기록된 상황의 수색·구조 작업이 진행 중인 가운데 발표됐다.
일요일에는 마드리드행 열차의 차량들이 탈선해 반대 선로로 넘어가며 다가오는 열차와 충돌했다. 사고는 스페인 남부 코르도바주에서 발생했다.
약 500명의 승객이 두 열차에 탑승한 것으로 파악되었으며, 사망자는 최소 42명으로 확인됐다.
