All 10 clubs in the top Korean baseball league have completed their foreign player signings for the 2026 season, with over half of the players having prior experience in the league.
The SSG Landers and the Doosan Bears finalized their foreign player acquisitions on Monday, with each team securing two pitchers and one position player.
The Landers re-signed half-Korean starting pitcher Mitch White for $1.2 million and outfielder Guillermo Heredia for $1.3 million. White, who had an impressive debut season in the KBO, recorded an 11-4 record with a 2.87 ERA in 24 starts in 2025. He will receive a salary of $800,000 along with a signing bonus of $300,000, plus potential incentives amounting to an additional $100,000.
Heredia returns for a fourth consecutive season, having batted .339 with 13 home runs and 54 RBIs in 96 games during a challenging 2025 season marred by injuries. Despite limited play, he earned his third straight KBO Fielding Award, making him the first player to win the top defensive prize in every year since its inception in 2023.
Additionally, the Bears signed outfielder Daz Cameron to a one-year deal worth $1 million. With a background as the son of three-time Gold Glove winner Mike Cameron, Daz has played 160 major league games and has a career .200 batting average, recording 11 home runs, 42 RBIs, and 15 steals. In the minors during 2025, he performed well with a .282 batting average, 18 homers, and 57 RBIs.
White and Heredia are among 14 foreign players returning from the previous season. Two players making a comeback to the KBO include Bears pitcher Chris Flexen and Hanwha Eagles outfielder Yonathan Perlaza.
The reigning Korean Series champions, the LG Twins, retained all three of their foreign players from the 2025 season, re-signing pitchers Yonny Chirinos and Anders Tolhurst, along with first baseman Austin Dean. In contrast, the KT Wiz replaced all three of their foreign players after failing to reach the postseason for the first time since 2019, bringing in right-handers Matt Sauer and Caleb Boushley, along with outfielder Sam Hilliard.
The Eagles lost their top two starters from the 2025 season and acquired new pitchers Wilkel Hernandez and Owen White. On the other hand, the Kia Tigers retained both foreign starting pitchers from last season, James Naile and Adam Oller, with Naile becoming the highest-paid foreign player for 2026, signing for $2 million.
For the upcoming season, the KBO introduced an Asian quota system, designating one roster spot for each team to be filled by Asian or Australian players with prior experience in an Asian league. By Christmas Eve, all 10 quota spots were filled, including seven Japanese players, two Australian players, and one Taiwanese player. The Tigers filled their Asian quota with Australian infielder Jarryd Dale, diverging from the trend of other teams that signed pitchers.
