Noh expressed his determination to prove his worth for the final team selection, stating, "I may get cut during the first camp," but added that he is confident in his abilities and has been working hard to get into shape. He acknowledged that the final decision rests with the coaching staff.
In recent years, Noh has been a standout performer in the Korea Baseball Organization (KBO), leading all pitchers in appearances and innings pitched since 2023. He has maintained the lowest ERA among relievers with at least 150 games during this period, showcasing his effectiveness despite being unable to overpower hitters as he once did.
The national baseball team has traditionally favored younger players for international tournaments, but following recent struggles against Japan, the coaching staff has recognized the need for veteran presence. Noh's experience could be invaluable for the team.
Noh reflected on his previous experience with the national team during the 2013 WBC, which he described as a "disaster." He emphasized the importance of learning from past mistakes and pacing himself better this time around.
The KBO has submitted a provisional roster of 35 players for the WBC, with the final 30-man roster due by February 3. The tournament is scheduled to take place from March 5 to 17, coinciding with Noh's 42nd birthday on March 11.

노경은은 골든 글러브 시상식 전 인터뷰에서 "첫 캠프에서 잘리지 않을까봐 장난스럽게 웃으며 걱정된다"고 말했다. 그는 “하지만 진지하게 이야기하자면, 팀에 합류할 수 있다는 자신이 있다. 체력 단련에 열심히 임하고 있다”고 덧붙였다. “결국 결정은 코칭 스태프에게 달려 있지만, 나는 내 할 일을 하겠다”고 강조했다.
KBO에서 지난 몇 년간 노경은은 가장 많은 출장 수(230회)를 기록하였으며, 구원 투수 중에서 246⅔ 이닝과 103 홀드로 각각 1위를 차지했다. 최근 3년 동안 150경기 이상 출전한 구원 투수 중에서는 가장 낮은 평균자책점인 2.88을 기록했다. 또한 노경은은 지난 두 시즌 동안 홀드 부문에서 1위를 기록하고 있다.
국가대표팀은 일반적으로 젊은 선수들을 선호해 왔으나, 일본과의 전시 경기에서 젊은 투수들이 고전한 이후, Ryu 감독은 경험이 많은 투수가 필요한 상황을 언급했다. 노경은은 그의 경험과 능력으로 인해 팀에 적합한 인물로 평가받고 있다.
노경은은 "솔직히, 이번이 국가대표팀에서 뛸 마지막 기회일 수 있다. 팀을 도와주기 위해 최선을 다하겠다"고 말했다.
노경은의 이전 국가대표 출전 경험은 2013년 WBC 대회였으며, 당시 한국 팀에 큰 실망을 안겼던 대회였다. 2013년 대회에서 한국은 예선에서 탈락하며, 노경은은 구원 등판 중 두 명의 주자를 점수로 내주었다.
그는 그 경험을 통해 중요한 교훈을 얻었다고 밝혔다. "당시 나는 아무도 따라 올 수 없을 만큼 빨리 준비를 시작하고, 첫 번째로 150km/h에 도달했다. 하지만 너무 무리하게 던져서 체력을 관리하지 못했다. 이번에는 더 잘 조절하겠다"고 말했다.
KBO는 12월 3일 WBC 조직위원회에 예비 명단을 제출하였으며, 명단 공개는 규정에 의해 금지되었다. 최종 30인 명단 마감일은 2월 3일이다. 2026 WBC 대회는 3월 5일부터 17일까지 진행되며, 노경은은 3월 11일에 42세가 된다.
