Industry Minister Kim Jung-kwan met with Chinese Commerce Minister Wang Wentao in Beijing on Friday to discuss follow-up measures to a recent summit between their countries' leaders and explore ways to strengthen economic and trade cooperation, according to Kim's office.
The meeting took place after President Lee Jae Myung held talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping on the sidelines of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum in Korea on November 1, as reported by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Resources.
This visit marked the first solo trip to China by a Korean industry minister since 2018.
The two ministers expressed that enhanced cooperation should yield tangible benefits and improve the livelihoods of people in both nations.
They acknowledged that bilateral trade has remained stagnant since reaching a record high of US$310.4 billion in 2022 and agreed to collaborate on expanding trade and promoting mutual investment.
Additionally, they decided to hold regular ministerial-level discussions through both bilateral and multilateral platforms to address economic and trade issues more effectively.

또한, 양국의 무역이 2022년에 3,104억 달러의 사상 최고치를 기록한 이후 정체 상태에 있다는 점도 인식하고, 무역 확대와 상호 투자 증진을 위해 협력하기로 합의했다.
이들은 경제 및 무역 문제를 보다 효과적으로 해결하기 위해 정기적으로 장관급 논의를 개최하기로 하고, 양자 및 다자 플랫폼을 활용할 예정이다.
