EXO has unveiled its first official six-member group photo excluding CBX (Chen, Baekhyun, Xiumin), concluding months of speculation following their appearance with only a logo on a major award show poster.
The group is set to hold its fan meeting “EXO’verse” on December 14 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. at Inspire Arena in Jung District, Incheon. This event marks EXO’s first fan meeting in approximately one year and eight months, with both sessions selling out during fan club presales, indicating the group's sustained popularity.
The newly released poster has generated significant buzz as it showcases the six-member lineup together for the first time, addressing a minor controversy from earlier this year when the “2025 Melon Music Awards” poster featured only EXO’s logo, leading to viral jokes about the absence of a usable photo due to ongoing member changes.
The poster features Lay, who left the group in April 2022, and D.O. (Do Kyung-soo), who departed SM in January 2023 to establish his own agency. Their inclusion in the poster signifies a rare reunion and a notable shift in EXO’s lineup.
The six members are depicted in soft lighting and relaxed poses, creating a warm and understated atmosphere that builds anticipation for the upcoming fan meeting and promotions.
Industry observers interpret this visual as a formal confirmation from SM Entertainment that EXO will continue as a six-member group.
CBX’s absence is attributed to ongoing legal disputes with SM Entertainment, which began in 2023 when they alleged the company failed to provide settlement documents and imposed unfair contracts. Although both parties agreed to maintain their exclusive contracts while allowing the trio to pursue solo work through INB100, most of CBX’s legal challenges have not been successful.
In October, CBX expressed a desire to participate in EXO’s full-group comeback; however, SM stated that the “settlement dispute and group activities are separate issues,” citing a breakdown of trust between the trio and the other EXO members.
INB100 indicated that CBX would “faithfully follow the existing agreement” and strive to restore trust through amicable discussions, but SM has remained firm in its stance.
As the conflict remains unresolved, EXO will continue as a six-member group into next year, including plans for a full-group comeback and the anticipated release of their eighth full album in the first quarter of next year.
