Ador, the agency representing K-pop girl group NewJeans, has initiated a substantial damages lawsuit against group member Danielle after terminating her exclusive contract. The case has been assigned to the Seoul Central District Court's Civil Division 31, which previously handled another significant legal matter involving HYBE and former Ador CEO Min Hee-jin.
As reported by a Korean outlet, Ador’s lawsuit seeks approximately 43.1 billion won (around $31 million) in contract penalties and damages from Danielle, a member of her family, and Min. The date for the initial hearing has not yet been established.
Ador announced the contract termination on Monday, stating that continuing with Danielle as a member of NewJeans was no longer feasible. The company plans to hold one of Danielle's family members and Min legally accountable, alleging their involvement in instigating the dispute and delaying the group's activities.
This lawsuit arises amid over a year of instability concerning the group and its former leadership. Following Min's resignation from Ador, NewJeans announced the termination of its exclusive contract effective November 29, 2024, and indicated intentions for independent endeavors. Ador subsequently sought judicial confirmation to uphold the contract, which the court affirmed.
During this tumultuous period, Min established a new entertainment agency, signaling her career shift outside of HYBE’s framework. Meanwhile, NewJeans members Haerin and Hyein confirmed their return to ADOR, with Hanni also following suit. Discussions regarding member Minji's status with the company are ongoing.

그 기간 동안 민희진은 OK라는 새로운 엔터테인먼트 회사를 설립하며 HYBE의 레이블 구조 외부에서 경력을 재시작할 노력을 기울였다. 한편 NewJeans 내부의 갈등은 다시 변화하기 시작했으며, 멤버 하린과 혜인은 12월 12일에 ADOR 복귀를 확인했고, 하니는 월요일에 같은 결정을 내렸다. 멤버 민지는 아직 회사와 논의 중이다.
