Two-time major champion Bryson DeChambeau shared the opening-round lead at the inaugural LIV Golf tournament in Korea on Friday. DeChambeau, who won the U.S. Open in 2020 and 2024, recorded a bogey-free round of seven-under 65 at Jack Nicklaus Golf Club Korea in Incheon, approximately 30 kilometers west of Seoul.
He is tied with Talor Gooch, who also shot a 65, featuring eight birdies and one bogey on a sunny yet cool and breezy day by the West Sea. DeChambeau, following a fifth-place finish in Mexico the previous week, noted that he overcame some "unlucky breaks" during the round and expressed satisfaction with his putting performance.
"I was proud of the way I putted and handled myself after missing two easy putts on the first two holes," he stated. He described the Jack Nicklaus golf course as a great test of golf, highlighting its forgiving nature off the tee but emphasizing the need for precision on second shots and the importance of making putts to achieve birdies.
DeChambeau mentioned that his focus was on becoming comfortable with the greens and understanding the ball's flight and curvature throughout the day.
