With music blaring behind the tees and along the fairways, and with cell phone-wielding arms up and "Quiet Please" signs nowhere to be seen, a LIV Golf event represents a departure from traditional golf tournaments. Korean golf fans experienced this unique atmosphere on Friday, as LIV Golf Korea commenced play with 58 players at Jack Nicklaus Golf Club Korea in Incheon, located approximately 30 kilometers west of Seoul.
This marks the first LIV Golf tournament in South Korea since the launch of the Saudi Arabia-backed tour in 2022. The new circuit has sought to distinguish itself from the PGA Tour through various aspects, including competition format and spectator experience.
The LIV Golf season is significantly shorter, running from February to August, and each event consists of only 54 holes with no cut, in contrast to the PGA Tour's 72-hole format. Additionally, LIV players are permitted to wear shorts during hot weather.
LIV Golf features 13 teams, each consisting of four players, with the top eight teams and ties earning points on a sliding scale at each tournament. The tournaments also employ a shotgun start, allowing all players to tee off simultaneously from different holes.

이번 대회는 2022년 시작된 사우디 아라비아 지원의 LIV 골프 투어가 한국에서 개최하는 첫 번째 대회입니다. LIV 골프는 PGA 투어와 몇 가지 방식에서 차별화된 경쟁과 관중 경험을 제공하고자 했습니다. 시즌은 2월부터 8월까지로 단축되었으며, 각 이벤트는 54홀로 진행되고 컷이 없습니다. 이는 PGA 투어의 72홀 대회와 비교되는 차이점입니다.
LIV 선수들은 더운 날씨에서는 반바지를 착용할 수 있으며, 13개의 팀이 각각 4명씩 있어 상위 8개 팀과 동점의 팀이 각 대회에서 포인트를 얻습니다.
LIV 대회는 샷건 스타트 방식으로 진행되어 모든 선수가 서로 다른 홀에서 동시에 티오프합니다.
