The project, initiated by local residents and funded through participatory budgeting, uses solar road studs that illuminate boundaries without external wiring.</p></div><p>Yongsan District announced that the initiative was selected by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety as a national best practice in public safety. The effort originated from resident proposals aimed at addressing hazards posed by dark, uneven curves where sidewalks merge with vehicular traffic after dark.</p><p>The district’s administration combined the resident-driven idea with traffic and urban design expertise, resulting in the deployment of eco-friendly markers that absorb daylight and automatically illuminate at night. The lighting enhances nighttime visibility of pedestrian areas and aims to reduce collision risks, while contributing to the neighborhood’s nighttime ambiance and benefiting local businesses.</p><p>The national recognition reflects a broader trend of using participatory governance to address urban safety and infrastructure challenges. The ministry plans to include the Gyeongridan-gil project in its forthcoming national handbook on participatory budgeting as a model for other municipalities.</p><p>District officials emphasized that citizen involvement led directly to a tangible policy outcome aimed at creating a safer Yongsan for residents and visitors.</p>

<p>용산구는 월요일 경리단길에 태양광 보도를 설치하는 이니시브가 행정안전부의 전국 모범사례 공공안전으로 선정되었다고 밝혔다.</p>
<p>940미터 구간의 도로에 태양광 스터드를 배치한 이 프로젝트는 지역 주민들로부터 시작됐다. 야간 보행자 위험을 인식한 지역 주민들이 지역 예산 제도를 통해 설치를 제안했고, 이는 주민이 공공 자금을 직접 사용하는 방식의 참여예산제도다.</p>
<p>경리단길의 제안을 수용한 용산구청은 주민 주도 이니셔티브를 교통 및 도시 디자인 전문가의 자문과 결합했다. 그 결과 태양광 도로 스터드가 도로 경계선을 명확히 구분해 주차 공간과 보행자 경로를 구분하는 역할을 하며, 외부 전기 배선 없이도 낮에 햇빛을 흡수해 밤에 자동으로 도로 경계를 밝히는 친환경 마커가 도입됐다.</p>
<p>그 효과는 즉각적이었다.</p>
<p>차량 차선과 보행자 경로를 명확히 구분함으로써 미묘한 빛이 야간 가시성을 크게 높이고 충돌 위험을 줄였다. 안전성뿐 아니라 부드러운 분위기 조명은 이웃의 야간 경관을 개선하고 지역 상인과 야간 보행자들에게도 긍정적인 효과를 가져다주었다.</p>
<p>국가 차원의 인정을 통해 국내 행정의 늘어나는 경향인 지역화된 참여 거버넌스 활용이 공공 문제를 해결하는 방향으로 나타나고 있다. 행정안전부는 경리단길 프로젝트를 전국 참여예산 편람의 사례로 수록해 전국 기초지자체의 벤치마크로 삼을 계획이다.</p>
<p>“주민이 직접 이웃 문제를 해결해 실질적 변화를 이끌어낸 의미 있는 성과다”고 김 경용 구청장이 말했다. “주민 아이디어가 실제 정책 결과로 이어지도록 참여예산제를 철저히 운영해 모두를 위한 더 안전한 용산을 만들겠다.”</p>
